George Green (shipbuilder)

George Green (1767- 21 February 1849) was a London based shipbuilder with a shipyard in Blackwall.
George served his apprenticeship with John Perry.
George had sons, Richard, Henry and Frederick. They subsequently took control the business. Henry completed his apprenticeship and became yard supervisor in 1822. Fredrick set up Frederick Green and Co., handled passengers and cargoes. Finally, after George retired in 1838, Richard, who was the eldest, took overall direction and including managing the ships.〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=The Green Blackwall Collection )
George also founded George Green's School, which has maintained a maritime connection, and today the school is supported by the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights.
He was buried at St Matthias Old Church.
